A group home for somebody who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which offers continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Instead of sending those who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home might help offer an acceptable environment to help maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents within a group home could be getting involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at one point live on their own outside of the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a viable temporary option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together again.
