TRICARE is health insurance that is offered to people in the armed forces of the United States. Drug abuse within the military is a lot more common than one would imagine, and the need to provide treatment to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehabilitation services to handle drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, along with rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. People with TRICARE will naturally need to obtain a prior authorization before partaking in any kind of rehabilitation service, which may be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the favored rehab option, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits as to the length of time a TRICARE member can stay within an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy that may be very useful, as it could help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are expert rehabilitation counselors waiting to help today.
