Offering gender-specific rehab services has shown to be worthwhile in situations where standard rehabilitation settings have fallen short, for example dealing with situations inside a women's life that are distinctive and traumatic. Such concerns may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family and being a mother, or other serious issues which are particular to women. Research shows that women may also become involved in abusing drugs more easily than men, and therefore are more vulnerable to illness due to drug abuse issues than males as a result.
