A group home for somebody who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. As an alternative to sending people who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home can help offer an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside within a group home may be getting involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life set up outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live independently outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a practical temporary option for those who are trying to get their lives back together.
