TRICARE is health insurance that is offered to folks in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is a lot more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehab services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence like detoxification services, in addition to rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Those that have TRICARE will naturally be required to get a prior approval before partaking in any sort of treatment service, which may be arranged using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program will be the preferred treatment choice, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are particular limits regarding how long a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which may be very helpful, as it can certainly help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery.
