Offering gender-specific rehab services has proven beneficial in circumstances where standard treatment facilities have fallen short, such as coping with situations inside a women's life which can be unique and painful. Such issues may relate to sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or another really serious issues which are specific to women. Research has shown that women may also get embroiled in drug use more easily than men, and therefore are more vulnerable to sickness due to drug abuse problems than males as a result. Due to duties in the home, women also tend to put off searching for and receiving treatment, a circumstance which can be a catalyst for disaster. That said, treatment services for women are created in order that a women's needs would be the concentration and priority. Similar to coed rehabs, alcohol and drug treatment programs which offer rehab services to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a first step. After this step, counselors help women focus on both basic and gender specific problems which may have brought on their drug abuse. Women also may take advantage of the beneficial support from other female peers, plus some programs that offer rehabilitation services to women provide client beds for her young children.
