TRICARE is medical insurance which is offered to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to provide treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a variety of treatment services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, along with rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People with TRICARE will of course need to get a prior authorization before taking part in any kind of rehab service, which may be arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility will be the preferred treatment option, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in this facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits about the length of time a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which is often very beneficial, as it can help include family members in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are expert treatment counselors ready to help today.
