Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or a few days per week. This is very helpful for many who have just completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab centers which offer treatment on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
