TRICARE is medical health insurance that's provided to members of the military of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is more common than one would assume, and the necessity to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehab services to address alcohol and drug dependence such as detoxification services, along with rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People who have TRICARE will obviously have to have a prior authorization before taking part in any type of rehab service, which can be organized using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the preferred rehab option, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in that program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits about just how long a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30-45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy that may be very beneficial, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
