Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be beneficial in circumstances where conventional treatment settings have not meet expectations, for example dealing with situations in a women's life which are unique and painful. Such issues may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or any other really serious issues that are particular to women. Research shows that women could also become involved in drug abuse more easily than men, and so are more vulnerable to illness because of dependency problems than males consequently. Due to duties in the home, women also tend to put off searching for and receiving treatment, a situation which can be a catalyst for disaster. With this in mind, rehab services for women are designed to ensure that a women's needs would be the concentration and priority. Much like coed programs, drug rehabilitation programs which offer rehabilitation solutions to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a 1st step. After this step, counselors help women concentrate on both standard and gender specific concerns who have induced their drug abuse. Women also utilize the positive support from other female peers, plus some facilities which provide rehab services to women offer client beds for her young children.
