A group home for somebody who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. Instead of sending people who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home might help provide an appropriate environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and support within reach 24/7. People who reside in the group home may be getting involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live independently outside of the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a viable temporary option for those who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
