Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has proven beneficial in circumstances where standard rehab settings have fallen short, for example coping with situations in the women's life which can be unique and traumatic. Such difficulties may pertain to sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or other significant issues that are specific to women. Research has revealed that women could also get embroiled in drug abuse more easily than men, and so are more predisposed to illness as a consequence of drug abuse issues than males consequently. Because of duties in the home, women also tend to put off trying to find and receiving care for addiction, a circumstance which can be a catalyst for catastrophe. Being mindful of this, treatment services for women are created so that a women's needs will be the focus and priority. Much like coed centers, drug rehab programs which provide rehabilitation services to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a first step. After this step, counselors help women focus on both common and gender-specific issues which may have triggered their drug abuse. Women also utilize the constructive support from other female peers, and a few programs which offer rehab services to women also provide client beds for her young children.
