Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in treatment services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time every day or several days weekly. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehab centers which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more effective rehabilitation option.
