Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehab programs which offer treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous treatment choice.
