Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days each week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehab option.
