Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve significant substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or a few days weekly. This is often helpful for those who have just completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facilities which offer treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
