Dual diagnosis rehabs are facilities which deliver rehabilitation to handle both mental health and addiction issues concurrently. Dual diagnosis is an extremely common circumstance for those involved in substance abuse, as those that have mental health problems often medicate themselves with alcohol and drugs to experience some form of temporary respite from their disorder. Treatment counselors will continue to work to identify environmental issues in the client's life including negative people in their lives or any other things which should be addressed in order for the person to be mentally healthy and abstinen t after they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral treatment which will help them develop more effective coping methods so they are better able to deal with life situations better once they leave dual diagnosis rehab instead of returning to alcohol and drugs as an inferior option.
