TRICARE is health care insurance that's provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would think, and the need to offer rehabilitation to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to handle drug and alcohol dependence including detoxification services, and also rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Individuals with TRICARE will of course be asked to have a prior authorization before partaking in any type of treatment service, that may be arranged using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center is the preferred treatment option, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are particular limits concerning the length of time a TRICARE member can stay within an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which is often very useful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery. No person in the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are expert rehab counselors waiting to help today.
