Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or a few days weekly. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
