TRICARE is health care insurance which is provided to folks in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a variety of treatment services to handle alcohol and drug dependence like detox services, and also rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People with TRICARE will naturally have to have a prior authorization before partaking in any type of rehab service, that may be organized with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program is the favored rehab option, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this particular program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30-45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling that may be very useful, as it can help include family members in the healing and process of recovery.
