Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or several days per week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers which provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
