Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services part-time daily or several days a week. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of drug use which is usually a really small amount of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab option.
