A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending people who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability within their lives and have counsel and support within reach 24/7. Residents inside a group home might be involved in rehab services during residence, or might be taking measures to get their life set up outside of the group home to be able to at some point live independently not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, but it is a sensible short-term option for those who are trying to get their lives back together.
