Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. People who choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis each day or a few days each week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more effective rehab option.
