Self pay is sometimes the only option for individuals who need treatment in the drug and alcohol rehab facility for drug abuse but haven't any health care insurance. It isn't uncommon for somebody addicted to drugs or alcohol to not have private medical insurance, as it can be difficult to keep a drug or alcohol habit going while also maintaining work. Individuals might not have private medical health insurance in the first place, but may make too much money to be eligible for Medicaid which will cover certain types of rehab. When someone has to self pay for treatment and doesn't have private medical health insurance, it can be in their best interests to look into Medicaid to find out if they meet the criteria, when they haven't already succeeded in doing so.
