Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment you might normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or several days each week. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small number of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous treatment alternative.
