TRICARE is medical health insurance that is provided to individuals in the military of the United States. Drug abuse inside the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehabilitation services to deal with alcohol and drug dependence such as detox services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Individuals with TRICARE will obviously need to get a prior authorization before taking part in any kind of rehabilitation service, which may be organized with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the favored treatment choice, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits as to just how long a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered.
