A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a place which offers continuous support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending those who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home will help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and support within reach 24/7. Residents inside a group home may be involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life setup outside the group home to enable them to at some point live independently not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a feasible short-term option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together again.
