Offering gender-specific rehab services has shown to be beneficial in situations where standard treatment facilities have not meet expectations, for example dealing with situations in the women's life which can be distinctive and distressing. Such issues may relate to sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or any other serious issues which are specific to women. Research has shown that women can also become involved in drug use more easily than men, and therefore are more predisposed to illness as a consequence of drug abuse issues than males because of this. Due to obligations in their home, women also tend to postpone searching for and undergoing treatment, a circumstance which can lead to disaster.
