Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services part-time daily or several days a week. This is helpful for many who have recently completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment programs which offer rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehab option.
