A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Instead of sending those who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help maintain stability within their lives and also have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside in the group home could be involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home in order to at some time live independently outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent solution, yet it's a practical short term option for many who are trying to get their lives back together.
