Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis daily or a few days each week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment centers which provide treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation alternative.
