A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending those who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside in a group home could be getting involved in rehab services while in residence, or might be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some point live on their own outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent solution, yet it's a viable short-term option for those who want to get their lives back together.
