TRICARE is medical insurance that's offered to folks in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is much more common than one would assume, and the necessity to offer rehabilitation to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehab services to address drug and alcohol dependence including detox services, as well as treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally be required to have a prior approval before taking part in any sort of rehabilitation service, which is often arranged with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program could be the preferred rehabilitation option, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can stay within an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy that may be very beneficial, as it could help include family members in the healing and recovery process.
