LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially depraved. This is sometimes a quite challenging and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug use to alleviate these feelings. Somebody who is LGBT may not feel safe inside a traditional rehabilitation program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing in their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehab counselors problems which should be handled in order to get better. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their loved ones, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is generally the case. This situation is certainly a frequent trigger for substance abuse, and is also a good example of an issue that could be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and produce confidence in order to lead a healthy life free of alcohol and drugs.
