A group home for somebody who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continuous support and help for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending people who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home might help offer an acceptable environment to help sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents within a group home might be involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home to be able to at one point live independently outside the group home.
