Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or a few days weekly. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab option.
