Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days a week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous treatment option.
