A group home for someone who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continual support and help for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents inside a group home could possibly be taking part in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside the group home to enable them to at some point live independently not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a feasible short term option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
