Hearing impaired persons tend to have an elevated chance of drug use issues because of their impairment, and treatment services have to be available to them which serves their circumstances. To begin with, detecting an alcohol and drug abuse problem among the hearing impaired is usually a challenge, because these individuals may try to hide their problem due to social stigmas attached to abusing drugs. However, drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselors who provide rehab to hearing impaired individuals understand the challenges these clients face. ASL rehab services are definitely a must, as are rehabilitation services which address the particular challenges that hearing impaired individuals encounter. Group therapy offers a venue for important peer support so that rehab clients can know they are not on their own, and that there's hope to handle their problem with alcohol and drugs. Individual counseling services can be more tailor-made for each individual to ensure their own personal challenges can be handled in rehabilitation.
