A group home for a person who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continual support and help for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home may help provide an appropriate environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in a group home may be involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at one point live independently away from the group home.
