Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services part-time each day or a few days weekly. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment centers which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous treatment option.
