Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis daily or a few days per week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small number of clients. For an individual with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more effective treatment alternative.
