TRICARE covers many different treatment services to handle drug and alcohol dependence like detoxification services, and also treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will obviously be asked to have a prior approval before partaking in any type of rehab service, which can be organized with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center will be the preferred rehab choice, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits regarding just how long a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which can be very useful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery.
