TRICARE is medical health insurance that's offered to members of the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is more common than one would assume, and the necessity to offer rehabilitation to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to handle alcohol and drug dependence like detox services, as well as rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People with TRICARE will obviously be required to obtain a prior authorization before taking part in any type of rehabilitation service, which is often arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program will be the favored rehab option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in that program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits concerning how much time a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which can be very helpful, as it may help include family members in the healing and process of recovery.
