TRICARE is medical insurance which is offered to people in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to offer rehabilitation to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers many different rehab services to deal with drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, and also rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People who have TRICARE will of course be required to have a prior approval before partaking in any type of rehab service, that may be arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center is the favored rehabilitation choice, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in this particular program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are particular limits about how long a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which can be very beneficial, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
