Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time every day or several days each week. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous treatment alternative.
