LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially depraved. This is often a very difficult or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug use to alleviate these feelings. Somebody who is LGBT might not feel at ease within a conventional rehab program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing within their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which can be totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely comfortable and safe divulging to their peers and rehab counselors issues which must be handled in order to recover. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab can help clients repair relationships with their family, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for abusing drugs, and is an illustration of a thing that will be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence to enable them to lead a wholesome life clear of drugs and alcohol.
