A group home for anyone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending individuals who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home might help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability within their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in the group home may be getting involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some point live independently outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a feasible short-term option for many who are trying to get their lives back together.
