Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days per week. This is often helpful for individuals who have just completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment centers that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
